Raith Rebels faced Inverkeithing Whites (13s) this morning, at Ballast Bank.
The Rebels took a little time to settle as they initially struggled to come to terms with a well organised Whites Team. The Whites benefit from some physical players who can drive forward at great pace. However, the Raith Girls quickly settled and were ahead after 4 minutes with a well taken goal from Rosie.
The Whites responded well pushing the Raith Girls onto the back foot and were soon back level.
Raith reorganised and again began to push forwards. Codie was the first to benefit after she collected the ball on the edge of the box before dribbling past the Whites defence and confidently slotting the ball past the keeper. Codie also scored the third with a similar well taken goal from close range. Leni who by this time was staying higher up the pitch, claimed the Raith 4th. The Raith Girls could and perhaps should have had more goals before the interval, but the Whites keeper stayed strong and kept them out.
4-1 Raith at halftime
The Whites came out fighting at the start of the second half as they looked to move the ball at pace down the centre of the pitch. Two quick goals followed and the Whites would have been back level had it not been for a brilliant save by Eadie with the score at 4 -3. It was now the Rebels turn to rally and they did just that, with some great passing and moving. The change of pace and momentum and the quality of passing culminated in two goals from Rosie which sealed the win. With two games to go the victory leaves the Rebels still in touch of 3rd place in the league.
6-3 Rebels at full time
An exciting game played at high tempo throughout, by two teams who gave every thing in difficult conditions. Well done to both teams for a fantastic performance.
